Emergency Department Clarification

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CLARIFICATION

We are aware of the news article regarding a potential ED closure in Geraldton due to a physician shortage.

We want to clarify that we do currently have physician coverage gaps in the summer months that we are working very hard to rectify.  In the unlikely event that we are not able to obtain physician coverage, this would result in a temporary interruption to ED services, which would be well-communicated in advance.

We are collaborating with all system partners to ensure that there is no temporary interruption of ED services.  Please note that any service interruption would not result in a hospital closure.
